Gay TV Series

Just my thoughts and some pics from TV series with gay characters, mostly prominent.

And we know it is the rule for networks to kill off most shows after the first couple of episodes. As if that tells anyone how good it is. They should believe in the shows they put on enough to have a half season at least. Or are they advertising something, in order to get us to their channel and stay to watch some other show? Product advertisers have to follow "Truth in Advertising" laws. Why shouldn't networks? If they advertise a new show, they should be required to have at least a half season(11 episodes or so), that are wrapped up enough to end as is. They can then do the second half of the season if desired.

And the shows they leave on usually should have ended much sooner.
The ones they keep usually start boring me quickly.
For some reason, the shows I like are the ones cancelled most of the time.

To help get these shows onto dvd release, you should try www.tvshowsondvd.com.
I have more than 100 shows I'd like to see again. Many I'd buy.

Will be sorted by date soon. List not complete by any means.
Will add thumbnails of gay characters as I find them. Click for full size..

Brothers & Sisters, fall2006..A really good interesting drama series. Like the characters a lot. Sally Field, always. Matthew Rhys plays the gay chacter, Kevin. Nice. Dave Annable plays the cute Justin, not gay. Already on my DVD list.

The Class, fall2006.. A nice comedy. Nice stories. Surprises. Sean Maquire plays the gay character. Not much known yet. Putting it on dvd. May get series dvd when out. (Sep07)Now cancelled by CBS. Too bright a light for their lackluster programming. No point in looking at their new season.

Ugly Betty, fall2006..A gay assistant. Really great show!

Book of Daniel, spr 2006...Only two episodes shown on TV. Just bought the dvd(jan2007). Really nice of them to release it. I liked the episodes shown, but the rest showed this to be an interesting and fun series with a lot of promise. Much like the current "Brothers & Sisters" on ABC. I really like most of the actors in this show, Aiden Quinn is a favorite, as is Ellen Burstin. Having Christian Campbell as the gay character really didn't hurt. At all. I am guessing some church didn't like it though. Not that that is what killed it so fast, networks have done that for years. At the top of my list of those I really would have liked to see continue.

Desperate Housewives...A great series. Andrew(Shawn Pyfrom), a gay son. Ryan Carnes his one time love interest.

Inconceivable..A gay Attorney and his partner, with baby.

SpyderGames, MTV..Actually a very enjoyable drama series from MTV. Byron Fields and Zay Harding were great. Would be nice to know who killed 'whats his name'. I do have the last episode on tape to watch once in a great while, but it would be great to have on dvd.
Byron ---- Zay ---- Kiss

Six Feet Under, ..Had a lot of great characters and stories.

The Division, One Cops' gay brother(also a cop) played by Allan Cutler.

Undressed, MTV.. Six Seasons, I think. Many great story lines. Have to figure out which gay charactor actors made it big. They show a few episodes during one day a year. My Tivo gets them.

Some of my Best Friends, ..Didn't last too long. At least not long enough to get into it. Like Jason Bateman(character is gay) and Danny Nucci(character not gay) a lot.
Danny* - Jason*

Crumbs, Spr2006...This was fun, had a lot of promise. Like Fred Savage a lot from Working, etc. Like Jane Curtain from Kate and Allie, etc. Have it on tape. Hope to see the 13 episode on DVD.

Will & Grace, 1994?????..Started out o.k. Nice premise. Will is very cute. Grace is pretty. Jack, immature(but a draw coming off of "Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss"). Karen is obnoxius.

I watched mostly for about 4 years when in one episode at an outdoor mexican cafe(I think), I heard Grace and Karen saying and doing the exact same things they were doing when the series started, and Will still hadn't done much of anything! Palitable for mainstream, I guess. I suddenly realised the series had absolutely no growth of the characters. They were all just as sad and pathetic and whiney(!) as when it started. I stopped watching and haven't since.

Boy meets Boy...Not that I'd classify a reality game show with the other series. But a lot of fun to watch!

Beggars & Choosers, Showtime, ..Behind the scenes of TV. Really fun show. Great stories, great actors. Tuc Watson as the hot closeted gay hearthrob. I have it on tape. On hold to be released on DVD.
Tuc

Queer as Folk, Showtime..Mostly liked it. A bit off the wall, but o.k. One viewpoint. Nice stories, many great looking guys. Haven't seen the last couple of seasons because I got so ticked off by Showtime cancelling Beggars & Choosers, then Odessey5, that I dropped them. Besides, Starz was having a lot more first run movies.
Hal

WasteLAnd, ..One of my Favorites! Dan Montgomery was handsome and great, Brad Rowe hot as usual. I have this on tape.
Dan ----- Brad

Leap Years, ..One of my Favorites! The only thing to spoil it was to know that Garret Dillahunts characters' detective boyfriend will die in a few years.
Garret

Oh, Grow Up!, 1999..Great bunch of characters. And it at least ended on a really great note. Didn't keep you hanging like many others. So it makes a nice 6 hour movie as is. (John Ducey pic from Sabrina, ttw)

It's All Relative

Doctor, Doctor(1989)...A great series. Tony Carreiro was really handsome and cute as the brother. I think I have this all on tape.
